I started Hammersmith Heating because I wanted to do things differently. After many years in the trade, I’d seen how often customers were left frustrated by missed appointments, poor communication and jobs that never seemed quite finished.

My approach has always been simple: turn up when I say I will, explain things clearly, charge a fair price and do the job properly. It sounds straightforward, but it’s surprising how much people appreciate it.

I qualified as a plumber around 40 years ago before moving into gas, central heating and boilers some 30 years ago. I was fortunate to be encouraged and mentored by another well-respected Hammersmith heating company, whose support helped set me on my way. Over the years that professional relationship grew into a lasting friendship, and I’ve never forgotten the importance of doing the job properly and treating customers with respect.

Forty years in the trade has taught me that experience isn’t just about knowing how things work – it’s about staying calm when they don’t. Every day brings something different, and while modern boilers and heating systems are becoming more sophisticated, many faults still come down to careful diagnosis, practical knowledge and not giving up too easily.

If your heating or plumbing lets you down, you want someone who has probably seen something similar before and knows where to start. I enjoy solving those awkward problems that others sometimes walk away from, and I’ll often go the extra mile to get your heating or hot water back on as quickly as possible. I’m still learning too, regularly updating my qualifications and keeping up with new technology, because there’s always something new to discover in this trade.

The cargo bike I use came into the picture during lockdown. With London’s streets unusually quiet, I tried using it for a few local jobs. It turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve made. Today it covers around 95% of my work, allowing me to carry all the tools I need, avoid traffic, skip the parking headaches and arrive when I say I will.

My aim has never been to become the biggest heating company in London. It’s simply to be the company people recommend to their friends and neighbours because they know they’ll be looked after, the work will be done properly and they’ll be treated fairly from start to finish.
